[ramble] Jun with glasses~
Apr. 17th, 2011 11:52 amI was excited to discover last night that my question had been answered on the Arashi kink tumblr. I love Jun in glasses a lot, after all. Amusingly enough, I also got to be the second post to the glasses tag, the first one being Ohno (and not Jun, sadly).
I was pleased and excited to be answered and for the links to more pictures of Jun in glasses, but the response made me realize that I was really unclear in my question. The long and short of the matter is: for some reason that is not really tied to fact, I tie contacts to being "on" and glasses to being "off."
It may be based on my own experience, as I, personally, wear contacts if I'm going to classes, work, or out to see anyone, and only wear glasses if I'm going to be inside not seeing anyone in particular all day, but that's the fact of the matter. And, I guess, while I think glasses in photoshoots are still pretty darn hot, it's not the same thing. For all we know, the glasses simply have glass lenses and he's wearing contacts underneath-- actually, I think its's probably pretty likely, considering I doubt Jun goes to photoshoots without contacts in hopes that maybe the shoot will be in glasses. It's when you see him on Shukudai-kun or something wearing glasses, and maybe it's because you don't see him wearing glasses much on TV these days... So, in that sense, to me, I guess, it's sort of like when he wore that god awful cap on VSA which fell off during Pinball Runner and underneath his hair looked really sort of gross, or, at least, not styled, and I loved it, because I really like seeing the Jun that's not the Matsujun who's laying on his back looking up through his long eyelashes at the camera for AnAn, or who's not the Matsujun with perfectly coifed curls in the rain so that he can find a puppy and take it home to his air conditioner for the delight of fangirls every (not that I didn't highly enjoy that CM-- I do, very much).
I guess my point is, I like Jun when he's just being Jun, when he gets really sweaty at concerts and then cries at the end, when he gets excited on VSA and calls out "Masaki, Masaki!" without thinking about it, when he fails and gets pouty. And, because you don't see him wear them very often (even if you see them in photoshoots more often) I connect his glasses to that. Maybe in my head I made up a story about how he only wears glasses on TV when he overslept and didn't have a chance to put in contacts or something. Maybe it's because I've read a few fics that represent him liking to take out his contacts at the end of the day and revert to glasses-- he prefers the comfort of glasses but wears contacts for the world. Maybe the association just came to me out of the blue one day, I don't really know.
But that's the main reason I like Jun in glasses. Now I wish there were an easy way to reply to tumblr posts...
